The article focuses on the issue of the journal "The Nation," published 50 years ago. The death of U.S. Chief Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes in October 1894 closed many careers in one end. The injunction forbidding the employees of the Northern Pacific Railroad to strike in December 1983 and the review of the proceedings by the United States Circuit Court of Appeals is discussed. the substance of the decision is that railway employees have a legal right to leave the service of the company either as individuals or by concerted action, provided it is a question of wages or the like, and if no intent to cripple the road can be proved against them.
