Painters, like writers, have been accompanying the troops as war correspondents. Recently 150 of their "reports" have been exhibited at the Metropolitan Museum and now these works are to be sent out on a cross-country tour lasting well into 1944. After that the pictures — which were first commissioned by "Life" magazine — will be donated to the U.S. government, probably to become part of some permanent war memorial yet to be erected. The show includes ten painters, of whom Tom Lea is the most ambitious.
