For some time now Broadway has been going through all the motions of beginning a new season, but so far the score, in terms of quality, must be set down as no hits, no runs and a series of egregious errors. "The Army Play-by-Play," which made the best showing, really doesn't count because it was scheduled for only two weeks. Neither do the revivals of such operettas as "Blossom Time" and "The Merry Widow," which are adequate but not inspiring exercises in resuscitation. The music is nice, of course.
