Can Adenauer Stay in Power?

Sometime in the early fall, probably in the first week of September 1953, the people of the Federal German Republic will go to elect a new Parliament. This will be the second general election since the war, the first since Chancellor Konrad Adenauer was elected for a four year term in 1949. The political picture has changed little in this period. The same principal parties will be in the field in the first week of September 1953, with the important addition of the refugee "All German Bloc." As before, the Christian Democrats have the chance of funding allies farther to the right, while the Social Democrats can look for friends only in the small Center Party and possibly, the All-German Bloc.
