This article presents information about various political issues. The editors of "Dissent" magazine, a quarterly of socialist opinion, recently sponsored a forum in New York City on the developments in Eastern Europe. An attorney general who has defended Communists and is firmly opposed to wiretapping is uncommon enough these days to warrant special mention. Such a man has just been appointed to the job in Pennsylvania by Governor George M. Leader. He is Thomas B. McBride, chancellor of the Philadelphia Bar Association. McBride is known primarily as one of the best criminal lawyers on the Atlantic coast, but he has also taken civil liberties cases for years.
