This article presents information on the book "Seize the Day," by Saul Bellow. "Seize the Day" presents the essence of the life of Tommy Wilhelm, a yearning, youngish, middle-aged flop; stunned by his dead marriage; manipulated by a crazy, fraudulent psychologist; under attack from his sly and malevolent old father; and grasping wildly for significant relationship with himself and with others. He needs money, he needs love, he needs his own strength, and he seems at first to be sinking hopelessly in retreat from himself within the dense sea of Manhattan.
