This article presents the author's views on the Presidential election in the U.S. in 1956. The author favors the re-election of Dwight D. Eisenhower as President of the United States. The whole record of his first Administration can be summarized in two words: "Constructive moderation." After twenty years of bold and frequently admirable innovation in public management, the country was ready for a calmer execution of accepted programs. The author believes Eisenhower has made good use of the National Security Council. With the help of that body, he has steered a careful course between the awesome cost of modern defense and the reasonable capabilities of the country's economy.
