This article presents information on several books on international relations. In "The United States and Asia," by Lawrence H. Battistini offers an introduction to U.S.-Asian relations — a broad subject of many facets. After a somewhat diffuse beginning, he succeeds in packing a lot of useful primary information into small compass. In "Japan's Modern Century," by Hugh Borton, the author speaks with a rare authority on Japan. Here he sets forth, with careful scholarship, much little known material regarding the whole process of renascence that followed Japan's forced entry into the world community in the mid-nineteenth century.
