The article focuses on Soviet Union's role in the U.S.-China deadlock. With a barrage of documents and press statements, the U.S. and Communist China have disclosed that their respective ambassadors have reached a deadlock after four months of private talks at Geneva, Switzerland. Diametrically opposed positions on the status of Formosa have been established which reveal that the principals are still as far apart as ever on the more basic questions of what constitutes China and therefore of who should represent China in the U.N.
