This article focuses on several books related to world politics. In his book "Seeds of Destruction," Cedric Belfrage offers the truth about the United States occupation of Germany. In form this is a highly readable, fully documented, and slightly fictionalized account of personal experiences and observations from the liberation of Aachen in October, 1944, to the reappearance of Nazism in 1947. The book "The Fate of the French Non-Communist Left," by E. Drexel Godfrey Jr., is a valuable experiment in the publication of serious monographs in pamphlet format. Among the most valuable entries in the series is this penetrating diagnosis, by a gifted young political scientist of Williams College, of the strength of communism, the weakness of socialism, and the decay of proletarian liberalism in France. "Democracy and Marxism," by H.B. Mayo, have been written about Marxism.
