This article focuses on two books, "The Scientific Revolution, 1500-1800," by A.R. Hall and "American Science and Invention," by Mitchell Wilson. Hall's treatise is a scholarly contribution to the history of science. It emphasizes the development of scientific ideas and methods brought about by such giants as Galileo, Newton, Lavoisier, and others. Hall's work, deals with methods and ideas of science. The book by Wilson is the finest pictorial history of technological progress in America. Wilson's enormous tome, is full of the applied science for which Americans have a special liking.
