Disunity in SEATO: Asia Prefers Asians

The article discusses the Southeast Asia Treaty Organization pact signed by eight states on September 8, 1954, aiming at thwarting the aggression in Southeast Asia. Communist wave stands at revolt against the old order in the Asians. The United States appended its understanding and wished for integrity. The Philippines, Thailand and Pakistan being the only Asian members other than the U.S., France, Australia, New Zealand and Great Britain. Winning the Asian sentiment was the primary aim of the pact along with the deal of cooperation in the development of the Asian nations.
