The Reece committee of the House of Representatives, by a vote of two and one-half to two and one-half, has discovered that the great American philanthropic foundations are tainted. They are tainted not with reaction, but with socialism. Two Republicans on that committee, B. Carroll Reece of Tennessee and Jesse P. Wolcott of Michigan, assert that some out larger foundations have directly supported subversion in the true meaning of that term. They have actively supported the attacks upon our social and governmental system of socialism and collectivist ideas. And they have conducted a "vast propaganda" promoting internationalism, directed toward world government in derogation of American nationalism.
