In this article, the author critically examines the book "The Life and Times of a Happy Liberal." by Kenneth E. Trombley. The hero of this book, Morris Llewellyn Cooke, has long been Philadelphia, Pennsylvania's outstanding envoy to Washington. In addition he has served as liaison between the engineering profession and the public interest. In the process he became a distinguished public servant in many fields. In approaching his job the author, a fellow-engineer, yielded to two temptations that might better have been resisted.
