The article focuses on a few books. The books are: "Moonscape and Other Stories," by Mika Waltari and translated by Naomi Walford, "Hester Lilly and Twelve Short Stories," by Elizabeth Taylor Viking, "Morning, Noon and Night," by Lars Lawrence and "The Flint Anchor," by Sylvia Townsend Warner. The book "The Flint," is a charming period piece giving much of the flavor of Victorian life and love. Behind a rather forbidding facade is a witty story--not quite a historical novel in the usual sense but an expert blend of satire, pathos, and melodrama.
