The article discusses books and authors. Oriental countries have for many decades pointed out that most European and American historians of philosophy write with little or no knowledge of the Oriental aspects of that subject, give them no attention, and leave an impression that only the West has produced philosophy. Some authors, especially in Germany, have asserted in defense that so-called Oriental philosophy is not philosophy at all, since it has a teleological religious motivation. Of the authors, some give attention to modern critical scholarship in the field, including writings by Western scholars, but others hardly allude to it.
