The article starts with a sarcasm that reads man bites dog. With the appearance of Harrison Salisbury's colorful Moscow cable in the "New York Times" of March 9 telling how John Rogge, delegate to the World Congress of Partisans for Peace, had on the previous afternoon stood up "in the great white marble and gold St. George's Hall of the Kremlin" and quoted Thomas Jefferson to a distinguished Soviet audience," The author quotes that he has been wondering how Rogge's bold one-man attempt to start a thaw in the cold war was handled by the Russian press. A good many American papers followed Rogge's recent tour to Moscow, Stockholm, and Belgrade with more than average interest. "The Times", for instance, stuck eight inches of Salisbury's dispatch on the front page under a two-column head and gave it a ten-inch jump inside.
