Congressional hearings have been held on the President's "Economic Report" relative to the current wave of big-business mergers. The publication of J.D. Glover's "The Attack on Big Business" has aroused considerable interest. While not so planned, this barrage of praise for big business is preparing the public to accept any weakening of anti-trust enforcement which may be proposed on the basis of the Justice Department's anti-trust report. Big business is spending larger sums than ever before to win over public opinion. Nor are the efforts of corporation publicists, with their huge staffs and almost tax-free expense accounts, confined to the conventional radio, TV, newspaper, and magazine channels.
