This article presents information on music. The author turned on the radio for the Metropolitan's broadcast of "Otello" the first time just as Del Monaco was about to begin the first-act duet; and the author was surprised to hear a clear, resonant vocal timbre instead of the dry, rasping, toneless sound of previous occasions; but this more agreeable voice was kept, in that quiet opening passage, at an unvarying forte unmitigated by the slightest trace of lyricism. In the great Dio! mi potevz scagliar of the third act too Del Monaco's voice had a clear vocal timbre, as against the rasping, husky tonelessness in the London recorded performance.
