Negro 'Anti-Semitism'

Negro anti-Semitism may be put in perspective by comparing it to the anti-Semitism of whites. Given the added element of prejudice against all whites and the involvement of Jews in the economic life of many ghettos, it might be anticipated that anti-Semitism would be some what higher among Negroes than among whites. Negro anti-Semitism, unlike that of whites, has some very concrete economic sources. Negroes were more likely than whites to accept negative economic stereotypes about Jews, although when level of education was taken into account these differences were reduced. On other negative stereotypes, such as that Jews stick together too much, the percentage giving the anti-Semitic response was about the same, regardless of race.
