This article presents information on the recent socio-political developments in Spain. The author opines that fear is part of daily life in Spain. It is informed that a strong group comprising of former anarchists and republicans was active in Barcelona, especially in the distribution of illegal newspapers which presented news of the corrupt political practices of the government in power. This group have become inactive of late and are replaced by smaller groups comprising of socialists and communists which is not that active. The fear among general public to discuss governmental atrocities is attributed to the fact that arrests are not the only way in which the Falangist state deals with dissidents. The sanctions being imposed also makes it difficult to lead a normal life.
