This article presents information on the book "Something of Value," by Robert Ruark. Robert Ruark offers the story of Kikuyuland, in the British colony of Kenya, shortly before and during the Mau Mau rebellion. He does it in a style which might perhaps be called "distended Hemingway." He is overpoweringly long-winded but has, nevertheless, the elements of a good story-teller. He knows the slang of Kenya settlers, and also knows their habits. He shares their robust enjoyment in hunting kudu, elephant, and "Kukes."
