Eugene Ionesco's new play, "The New Tenant," adroitly staged by young director Robert Postec, is a sort of avant-garde "Craig's Wife," and exhibits a nervous, lonely man, enamored of things. He is furnishing a small apartment, and when the moving men arrive with dozens of vans full of odd chairs, buffets, beds and sofas, he orders these to be placed in exactly chalk-marked positions. A few weeks later, after Paris, France had seen a routine series of comedies about pirates, pimps and life in the provinces, the Jean-Louis Barrault company presented "L'Histoire de Vasco," by the Lebanese poet, Georges Schehadé, at the Sarah Bernhardt Theatre.
