The article presents information about Aaron Copland's music entitled "Piano Variations," and his "Piano Sonata," which have always been regarded as two of his most important and monumental works. By some people they are also considered to be the opposite side of a coin reading "Appalachian Spring-Billy the Kid." They are not an opposite side at all, for Copland's creative personality doesn't divide that way. In his best works, keenness of thought and a unique expressive gift are constant attributes and they are apparent whether he is dealing with folk materials or with self invented abstractions.
