In this article, the author discusses the shift in the political power in Italy. In Milan, Italy professor Virgilio Ferrari, candidate of the Social Democrats, the Saragat party, has been elected mayor with the backing of the Nenni Socialists and Communists. It might break the centrist coalition and even bring down the government. In Italy's electorate, now numbering 31 million, women voters are a majority. Christian Democrats are still the strongest party in Italy, they won around 10 million votes. Communists, in spite of losses, garnered 6 million.
