This article presents brief descriptions of various socio-political issues and developments in the U.S. It reports about the White House visit of British Prime Minister Winston Churchill and British Statesman Anthony Eden. It was a prank of history that it should be a Churchill government which has been restraining the United States from measures that could precipitate war with Communist China and the Soviet Union. Another news regarding army-McCarthy controversy is discussed here. It was supposed that historians and political analysts will find the transcript of the army-McCarthy hearings a fruitful field of study for many years to come. In it great issues were raised: McCarthyism versus the Bill of Rights, McCarthyism versus the system of checks and balances, McCarthyism versus security.
