This article focuses on General Fazollah Zahedi, of Iran. Zahedi, was undoubtedly the logical chance to lead a government that owes its existence to the army. Former ruler Shah Pahlevi realizes that his government is doomed to an early death unless he bolsters the bankrupt Iranian economy with an oil transfusion. Revenue from a revived petroleum industry, he has promised the skeptical populace he once exploited. Thus, the unpredictable Zahedi, who collaborated with the Nazis, and helped to kick the British out of Iran in 1951, feels that an oil agreement with the West is the side his political bread is now buttered on.
