The article presents information regarding several socio-political issues. The new French Cabinet lost no time in making it clear that France's grave economic situation will require increased sacrifices by the French people. M. Faure, the new Finance Minister, has already asked for a billion-dollar loan from the Bank of France. It looks as if the Russians were preparing to make the United Nations the chief focus of diplomatic action in the near future. The contract for ten transformers at Chief Joseph Dam has been awarded by the Defense Department to a British firm which again was the low bidder.
