The article focuses on the book "Lytton Strachey," by Max Beerbohm. Beerbohm chose to speak about writer Lytton Strachey. The two men are very much alike in their approach to literature as, above everything else, an art. Beerbohm's lecture, indeed, is the most graceful of tributes from one very literary man to another. What he appreciates most in Strachey is his manner, his artistry, his prose, they are the things we should most expect him to appreciate. But, like many other graceful tributes, Max's lecture is not very searching criticism, and like much else in Beerbohm's writing, it tells more about the author than the subject.
