The article presents information about books "Christianity and the Scientist," by Ian G. Barbour and "Science Ponders Religion," by Harlow Shapley. Barbour's position is that of reformed theology and liberal Protestantism. He stipulates at the outset that there are no Christian laws of science and that when the church tries to dictate specific conclusions to scientists it misapprehends its function. The calling of the scientist, as of every man, is to serve human need, seek truth, work for a better society and worship God. The general orientation of "Science Ponders Religion" is toward reconciliation of science and religion, the latter being construed as the totality of those organs and institutions which operate in the "areas of ultimate concern."
