The author says that there is an old-school-tie feeling among CBS newsmen. They are carrying on a tradition of reporting which established the network's reputation in radio days and has continued into TV. Foreign correspondents, called back to the United States for the annual year-end show, find the reunion important beyond this assignment. The leadership is waving all sorts of propaganda at people to distract people. Highlights of the news, delivered in the context of long-cycle developments, are what radio and TV reporters must deliver.
