The article comments on the Protestants in Italy. Religious discrimination against Protestants has been so much more spectacular in Spain than in Italy that the discriminatory, policies of the Vatican in its home country have received little attention. It is true that Protestants in Italy are free to practice their religion openly, whereas in Spain they are not. There are some flourishing Protestant congregations in Italy, with a total membership of 100,000 about 0.2 percent of the population. The Jewish population has been reduced to perhaps 30,000, but no substantial discrimination seems to be exercised against members of the Jewish faith as such at the present time.
