The article focuses on the November 1950 elections in Missouri. Missouri's Republican Senator Forrest Donnell is conducting another of his fatented campaigns on behalf of his opponent. Donnell may have been elected each time by only a few votes, but there is no gainsaying his gifts as a campaigner, especially in rural Missouri. Even more telling contributions to Donnell luck than weak Democratic candidates have been Democratic scandals as the venalities of the old Pendergast machine and the attempt to keep Donnell out of the governorship after he had won it.
