This article presents news items related to the social conditions of the U.S. What is so impressive about advertisements given by various products is that they are imbued with an esteem, even an affection, for banks and bankers that one had no idea was so common. In some of the advertisements, for a change, bankers tell what they think of banking. These are awfully interesting. The figures on the dwindling of the New York City water supply remind one of figures on the dwindling of the British dollar reserves which the U.S. watched with so much suspense last summer.
