This article presents a brief information on the book "American Radicals: Some Problems and Personalities," edited by Harvey Goldberg. It is occupational vice of reviewers to condemn a book for not being the one they themselves are too lazy or incompetent to write. This book explores the history of American radicalism, and then point out that Goldberg has wisely decided to exploit the advantages of the symposium method while trying to guard against its risks. The major advantage, is that one gets sixteen studies of a wide variety of American radicals or aspects of radicalism by fifteen qualified men, no one of whom would be likely to produce by himself such different but first-rate essays.
