This article presents brief information on the book "The New World: Volume II of a History of the English-Speaking Peoples," by Winston S. Churchill. In this book, Churchill gallops in a lively though not undignified manner through two centuries of English history, from the victory of Henry VII in 1485 to the flight of James II, in 1688. The book does not refer particularly, as Americans might assume, to the Western Hemisphere, but to the new horizons which opened out for the English in these centuries. In this it may strike the reader as being somewhat misleading, since Churchill has stoutly purged this world of- many of the things on which rest its claims to novelty.
