It is obviously much too soon to make any definitive estimate of effects of recent changes in the Soviet Union on either the Socialist Parties of the West or the Communist Parties which dispute with them the allegiance of the working class in Western countries. No more can be attempted at present than a highly provisional estimate of the impact on Western communists and Socialists of the dethronement of the revolutionary politician Joseph Stalin. Present leaders of the Soviet Union have advanced some way towards a denunciation of previous errors.
