The article focuses on the political condition of Chicago, Illinois in recent times. Gerald L.K. Smith, a middle West politician, is seeking to practice on the delegates to the United Nations conference at San Francisco, California, the art he learned in Louisiana's canebrakes as a disciple of the U.S. political leader Huey Long. The conference has largely rid Chicago of the nationalists, anti-Semitics, and, others of like breed who make it their headquarters Smith has been, delivering ultimatums right and left for some time. A resolution presented by the U.S. Senator Richard J. Daley, Democratic minority leader, and adopted unanimously authorizes an investigation into anything and everything un-American in the state of Illinois and gives the investigating committee the power of subpoena.
