In broadcasting there can be no music without talk and, not just talk but also the talk of ignoramuses pretending to knowledge. Even when the audience is the supposedly literate one for which the Book-of-the-Month Club sponsors broadcasts of chamber music performed by the Budapest Quartet it cannot simply, be told what work it is going to hear and then be allowed to hear the work; it must first listen to a stinging around of pretentious statements about the background and derivation and style of the work that are sheer nonsense and falsehood.
