The rock upon which efforts to draft an effective international air-transport convention finally foundered was the divergence of American and British viewpoints on the powers to be entrusted to the international organization. Smaller countries learned that deep American suspicion of an effective regulatory organization still prevents American collaboration in world affairs despite the precedent of the United Nations war effort and that Great Britain will not easily tolerate an invasion of commerce in spheres it once dominated. The new land-lease agreement between the United States and Great Britain represents an encouraging step in constructive post-war planning. The mass seduction trial has seemingly come to an end as the result of the death of Justice Edward Eicher.
