The article reports on a conference that was held on the weekend of January 29 to 31, 1971. U.S. Presidential adviser Henry Kissinger presided over the meeting. The gathering was sponsored by an ad hoc organization called Project Runnymede. The author attended the conference at which Kissinger spent two hours talking and answering questions on American foreign policy. The meeting was officially off the record. Kissinger reminded his audience that if his remarks were reported it would make it difficult for him to meet other groups in the future. Kissinger was not the first speaker of the evening.
