The article presents experiences of a grandee from Spain, who spent eight months in Franco's Jail. A B-52 airplane came down on the village of Palomares on January 17, 1966. Many months of decontamination work followed the discovery that casings of bombs had cracked possibly spilling radioactive material, as a result farmers and fishermen in the region suffered. The grandee took part in a march along with villagers before the foreign press and later gave herself up to the police as the law demands. Jail is a great teacher. Prison accentuates evils of a system. The physical difficulties of Spanish prison life are compounded by problems of morale. The most important section of the new penal code refers to the re education of prisoners, who are to be submitted to the observation of educators and psychologists in preparation for an early return to society.
