The Labor Movement Today

This article focuses on the history and developments in labor movement of the U.S. various developments in the labor movement have played a part in bringing about the merger of the two branches of the labor movement of the American Federation of Labor (AFL) and the Congress of Industrial Organizations (CIO). In addition, it was clear even then that accelerating social and economic change in the years ahead would take important implications for the labor movement. The merger of the AFL-CIO, about which Americans had misgivings from the start, has not proved to be an unqualified success.
