This article focuses on a newspaper story about a black soldier Larry Eugene Ward of a Seattle black ghetto in Washington who died after having been shot by the agents of law and order as he fled the scene of an attempted bombing. Ward had been to the Vietnam war, where he was wounded twice and decorated three times for combat services. The article puts across the point that the manner of Ward's dying, and the events leading up to it, raised questions that perturbed almost no one outside Seattle's black community.
