The article focuses on the Chicanos. Chicanos, in the minds of many of the white majority, are bronze-skinned, black-haired militants who wear sinister Pancho Villa mustaches, speak broken English, and are innately prone to rebellious violence. Murder is in their blood, and they will kill people, including their own kind, at the drop of a sombrero. Their natural stupidity only adds to the unpredictability and wantonness of their crimes of violence. For long years, the barrios have been so gerrymandered that Chicanos are powerless to choose their own representatives.
