The article discusses some political updates related to the U.S. It highlights that U.S. President Lyndon B. Johnson is concerned about the recent dialogue on Vietnam. Moreover, an estimate that North Vietnamese are infiltrating an estimated 1,500 troops a month in November has now been increased to 4,500 a month. Given a 4-to-1 ratio in guerrilla fighting, this would mean that U.S. government would have to add 18,000 troops a month just to maintain the balance. Another update focuses on U.S. Senator Paul Douglas who has got himself into a peck of trouble in Illinois, all of his own making, and proving that foaming at the mouth over the Communist question is not always good politics.
