The article presents manuscripts and letters of many writers and admirers about Henry Louis. Mencken, an editor of "The Nation" on his seventy third birthday. William Manchester, author of "Distributor of the Peace" quotes that he has edited vast chuncks from "The Genius." He has retired from the "Mercury" magazine after serving 18 years as an editor. After the establishment of the ."Mercury" and the withdrawal of George Jean Nathan , a dramatic critic, Meucken's interests turned from literary to social criticism. Michael Gold, author of "Jews Without Money" quotes that the Mencken was very creative as an editor. He typed on his own machine hundreds of letters each month to authors young and old.
