This article presents information regarding the status of a worker's wife in the U.S. Her day's circuit is rarely concentric with the club and social rounds traveled by her middle-class counterpart. The worker's wife belongs to one of the largest and, in most neglected groups in the U.S. population. It is even larger than Afro-American minority, about 18,300,000, compared with about 17,500,000 Afro-Americans. She does not have time or money for club life and "entertaining," worse, she seems to lack inner resources, the self-direction, the confidence, the assertiveness, the will, to move about freely in the larger world.
