The article presents information about a six story building long architecture, built in the shape of a shoe box, 350 feet wide and flat faced all around, covered with hundreds of plaques of glass held in a delicate frame of black aluminum. This immense box sits in the middle of, some 450- acres of rolling farm and woodland in Holmdel, New Jersey, is approached by formal driveways, is flanked by large parking spaces, and has a wide pool in front of it, with fountains, or, rather, a single fountain hundreds of feet long, raising a delicate wall of spray from myriad nozzles. It is a new research laboratory for Bell Telephone Co., housing something like 2,400 scientists, their helpers and supervisors.
