The article focuses on Indian political climate during the Indo-China war. The enforced removal of V. K. Krishna Menon from the Indian Cabinet ministry must have been hailed in the U.S. as the best news out of India for years. Whatever its outcome, the Chinese attack on India has decisively altered the pattern of Indian politics, perhaps, in the ways that the U.S. or their ideological allies in India may hope or expect. Many have thought that the Communist Party of India would suffer severely from the Chinese depredations which had already taken place. In turn, it increased its vote; notably in West Bengal, which has the most pro-Chinese Communists in India.
